CYBER COMMUNICATION
Students must be connected to the Internet,
or be willing to be connected.

 This Internet Course will encourage you to explore exciting ways your computer can be used for communicating, apart from emailing and searching the internet.  Some of the topics explored will be:

  •  Setting up a new email account

  •  A review of settings needed to get your new Email Account up and running.

  •  Immediate Messaging  (IM)

What is this and how can you use it?  Learn how to chat with your family and friends in realtime and see when they come online.

  • How to Set-up and use Yahoo messenger
  • How to Set-up and use “MSN Messenger
  • How to Set-up and use Google Messenger
  • How to Set-up and use Aim (aol) Messenger

 Web Cam (WEB CAMera)  A video camera that is used to send periodic images or continuous frames to a Web site for display.

  • Come and visit some of the countless Webcam sites on the Internet
  • Set-up a “Logitech” Webcam
  • Set-up web video conferences
  • Or just share time with family or friends

 VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)

What is this and how can you use it?  Just as modems allow computers to connect to the Internet over regular telephone lines, VoIP technology allows humans to talk over Internet connections. 

Skype is one popular voice communicator program which allows users to communicate over the Internet with other Skype users. 

Prerequisites: Students should have completed the Introduction to Computing or Basic Courses, and have sufficient word processing and file operation skills.
