Fiddling with Fotos
In this course we will
explore ways to improve or enhance photos using a number of
different computer programs.
The Syllabus will include:
- Straightening,
cropping and rotating photos
- Shadows and back
lighting
- Red eye removal
- Restoring old photos
- Adding special
effects to photos
- Editing and adding to
photos
- Digitising old photos
and slides
- Displaying and
sharing photos
Prerequisites:
Students should have attained a degree of competence in
using the computer.
Introduction
to Digital Photography
Are you looking to buy a digital camera
but not sure about what to buy?
Have you just bought one and found it all
a little confusing?
Have you bought one and are not confident
about using it?
Have you used more than the 'Automatic'
setting?
Do you know how to download and find your
photos?
Can you crop and improve your photos?
Can you print your favourite photos?
If you answer 'No' to
any of these questions,
then this course is for you.
It is
planned as a course for real beginners who want to get the best out of a
digital camera. Photo improvement is limited to very basic
changes.
The classes are designed as sharing and
learning experiences for real novices, with or without
cameras and we hope it will set students on their way to
really enjoyable photography.
Course 2:
Digital Photography
The Digital Photography Course will cater for
members who have a digital camera, or members who create still
photographs. In the classes each week, they will participate in
the post processing procedures in their cameras, and in the
graphic program in the computers.
Participants must be prepared to take
photographs in the classes each week so they can use the post
processing procedures in their cameras and the graphic program
in the computers to enhance the finished prints.
In class the students will download
photographs to the computers.
The class will explore most facets of
photography, and open new horizons for the use of digital
cameras.
A General Overview of the
Course:
- Taking group photographs with your camera
and downloading them to the club's equipment
- Trimming and enhancing your photos in
your camera or in a graphics program
- Exploring all facets of your camera
- Macro Photography from a tripod
- Panoramic photography and stitching with
a graphics program
- Portrait photography with studio lighting
or flash
- Re-photographing, restoring and enhancing
old family photos
- Copying photographs with your camera
- Displaying your photos in a slide show in
the camera, on the TV, using a video tape, CD's or DVD's
- Adding sound to a slide show
- Saving photos onto a CD or DVD
- Preparing photos in photo album format
with titling
- Comparing printing your photos on your
printer or on a professional DIY photo lab in a facility
provided by processing and camera outlets.
We will explore as many of the above topics as
the 9-week course will permit
Prerequisites: Each student must be
prepared to bring and use a digital camera as described above
and also bring the camera's instruction book. Experience with a
graphics program would be an advantage.
